What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Keyless Entry
Key fobs can start your car's engine. This is useful when you have to leave the vehicle during hot weather, or if you're carrying large items in your boot that make it difficult to open the door manually. Some key fobs feature a dedicated remote engine start button (for instance Ford's key fob features an arrow that is circular and going clockwise) which you must press to remotely start your car. Mazdas, for example require you to first lock the key and then press the Start button.
There may be a weak or dead battery in your key fob if you aren't able to start your car. The battery inside the key fob is no longer strong enough to send a signal to your car system.
If this happens, you can either replace the batteries or reprogram your key fob. The procedure differs for each vehicle, but the instructions are typically found in the owner's manual. Door Locks

It does this by using the radio signal, which can only be transmitted if the key is located at an appropriate distance from the car. Once the signal is detected an internal solenoid within the door lock converts the electronic signal into an action that is mechanical. This triggers a rod that controls the door locks just like the turning of a physical key used to do.
There are a variety of possible reasons for a Peugeot keyfob that isn't locking or unlocking your car. Most likely is a dead battery for the coin, which can be replaced in a matter of minutes. Other causes are worn buttons, water damage signal interference or a damaged electronic chip.
Modern vehicles require a precise level of precision to operate, and the key fob isn't in any way immune to this. Immobiliser
Peugeot was one of the first companies to include an immobiliser on the key. The immobiliser chip stops the car from starting if it detects an untrue signal coming from the key to the car. This is a great feature when they're brand new, but over time the chips may wear out and cause problems. This usually occurs when you notice an alert on your dashboard that says 'anti-theft system active or a warning lamp which reads 'immobiliser failed'.
